About us
The history of CCC
We are the premier cricket club in North Norfolk, and one of the oldest in the county. We've been in and around the top level of the domestic county cricket scene since 1891, and have a reputation as a great play to play, watch and enjoy the highest standard of cricket on the Norfolk coast.
We have a vibrant and growing youth scheme, with training for children from 11 to 17, with eight ECB-accredited coaches, and we run Colts teams for u-13 and u-15s.
Cromer Cricket Week is one of the oldest in the country, and famous as a great week of sport, both on the field and in the bar.
And our beautiful ground is one of the finest places to while away a sunny Cromer afternoon, watching some high-quality cricket, and perhaps enjoying a quiet drink on the Bank...

From the Chairman

Cricket has been played in Cromer since 1891, or maybe even earlier - Philip Yaxley records Cromer’s Suffield Park School playing in the balmy summer days of the early Edwardian era.
It was in the 1960s when retired Squadron leader Eric Bedwell assembled a side that was to become one of the leading teams in the County, winning a succession of honours. Since then the club has continued to prosper as the only Premier League team in North Norfolk. Now, with a nucleus of young players and an enthusiastic committee, we look forward to further successes.
The 2009 season was a good one. We went into it with no professional for the first time for many years, and even though we were without our captain Tom for a number of weeks through illness, everyone rolled up their sleeves and produced a string of excellent results. We hope we can better that this season.
The second team also played well but just missed out on promotion. With a big effort from everyone we are hopeful that we will see them right up the top this year.
We have been much encouraged by the juniors even though results have not been spectacular - but that will come as the young ones progress. And with 6 level two coaches plus a couple on level one the juniors will have plenty of expert guidence.
The clubhouse has had new windows fitted plus new cladding and is looking better than it has done for many a year. The new windows will for a while be using the old protective grills but these will be upgraded during the early weeks. Various other works are being carried out to improve both the clubhouse and the pavilion. A further ten year lease is in the process of being signed which will remove the uncertainties we had a year ago.
Everyone at the club hopes that the players can pick up some silverware in 2010. However, it is not just winning honours that makes a good club. It is the enjoyment of the game, and the friendships, and memories that derive from that, which are so important. There can be few more enjoyable ways of spending a warm sunny afternoon than sitting on the bank at the Norton Warnes Ground watching the contest between bat and ball; being involved in the banter; and partaking of some much needed refreshment.
At Cromer we welcome all of any age who would like to play, plus visiting teams and spectators - and we hope you all enjoy the cricket here, as so many of us have done over the years.

From the Captain
Tom Davies
As we edge closer to the 2010 season we can look forward to it with excitement and expectancy after last year when we achieved everything we set out to.
With no professional for the first time in 11 years the main aim was to avoid relegation which was never going to be easy with such a young inexperienced side. Defying all the odds we did what we set out to do, and actually won more games than we did last year, a great achievement showing just how good we can be. On the flip side we lost the rest of our games with no draws which shows the lack of experience and inconsistency.
This year our target is to stay in the division along with improving our current league position of 7th.We are building a great squad with youth on our side, and each year we set our heights higher and higher, if the lads all stay together then this squad will achieve great things in the future, but its one step at a time
We all know how hard it is going to be in a very strong competitive league and nothing should be taken for granted.
A couple of signings for this season which we hope will bring in a touch more experience, We are looking to sign an overseas player who will bring some additional quality and help in the development of the younger players in the squad and junior coaching, and with a couple of boys from the 2nd team who will be pushing for a 1st team place we look like a strong side.
Although we will be entering the 2010 campaign with sadness, after the tragic loss of Alan Shepard who meant such a massive amount to everyone at the club, personally I am looking forward to this season more than any other because we have a squad full of youth and an abundance of talent, a team who are mates on and off the pitch, and the spirit within the squad is brilliant, and that spirit runs right through the club.
Tom
