With Saturday’s win still fresh in the mind, the Cromer Sunday XI took on Chapelfield at Norton Warnes.

After winning the toss, Van Greuning sat back and let his usual Sunday mix of youth and more youth run the show.
In fact, a quick tally up revealed Cromer’s average age to be just over 18 yrs of age - exactly what Sunday league cricket should be about. (Ok, when the skipper’s age was included the average did rise ever so slightly, but the point was made.)

Chapelfield had a couple of sharp and accurate bowlers and made life initially difficult for the openers, but Battrick and Charlwood kept things moving and after 20 overs Cromer were on 100 for the loss of Charlwood.

Warnes joined Battrick, and in no time had caught him up with a quick fire 42. Rob Marsh and Jack Van Greuning, along with last week’s centurion Regis, came and went before Barrett joined the fray and lashed an even quicker 56.

James Craske, not to be outdone, lost a ball from a huge straight six and at the close Cromer sat comfortably on 270 for 6 from 40 overs.

Battrick had crafted 75 runs from his usual mix of watchfulness and clean hitting to follow his 62 earlier in the season.

In reply Chapelfield finished on 232; Cromer only taking three wickets - the two run outs were Chapelfield’s own work.
Pick of the bowling had to be 10 overs of Michael ‘the Spin King’ Warnes who bowled with a looping gait, causing chaos at the other end, and was simply an event looking for somewhere to happen.

A good win; a good weekend; and Sue and David Craske’s debut in the kitchen meant tea was good too !!!
