If Cromer wanted to have any chance of finishing in the top three a win at home to Topcroft was crucial, and a win is what they got.

Cromer won the toss and elected to field.

The form from the previous week continued with the ball and scoring chances were rare. Michael Warnes took the first wicket in the 12^th over dismissing Wright with a fabulous catch from Richard Charlwood. This was the start of a top order collapse and Topcroft went from 27 for 1 to 54 for 5. Warnes and James Craske both taking two wickets each.

Rostron and I. Todd showed a bit of resistance for the 6^th wicket putting on 68 runs. The partnership came to an end when Colin Brown got the wicket of Rostron for 35. Only nine more runs were added for the final four wickets and Topcroft scored just 121. Brown took two more wickets to finish with excellent figures of 3 for 11. Arendse also took two wickets.

Rayno Arendse played some aggressive shots early in the Cromer response and he reached 30 off just 19 deliveries before he was dismissed by Gunawardene. Tom Davies and David Turner were both out for 2 and Cromer were 58 for 3 from 11 overs. Gunawardene took all these wickets.

Charlwood and Warnes were now in the middle together and the two of them would see Cromer comfortably over the winning line. Charlwood hit the winning runs in the 28^th over to secure a superb 7 wicket victory. He finished 40 not out and Warnes was not out on 26. Gunawardene finished with figures of 3 for 25 from 9 overs.

Cromer go into their final game knowing that a better result than that of Lowestoft and third spot is theirs, and if results go their way second place isn’t completely out of the question.
